Following our recent application to BBC Children in Need we have received fantastic news that the trustees have approved our 2 year grant application for a Fun Start project!
The Fun-start project has been created to cover a gap in service that was identified through recent family feedback and monitoring. Our aim is to supports children that may suffer from play deprivation, or house bound children. This Fun- Start project unlike any other addresses child safety, wellbeing and health all-in-one project and targets families living in areas of deprivation.
Unlike our core service where the focus is on the family, this Fun-Start project will focus on the child both in one to one support sessions at home and in a group settings. This format will enable our scheme to build up confidence with a child in their own home and then to encourage further involvement outside the home.
Each Fun-Start project will include 8 Play sessions; all sessions will be delivered at a time that best suits the child. Times, dates and preference of play will be identified on the Initial visit to a child in the, Getting to know you session.
4 x 1:1 play sessions in a child`s own home to include:

  • Getting to Know you
  • Keeping Safe
  • My environment
  • Fitness and Fun

4 x Group sessions funded by the project:

  • All group sessions will be chosen by the child to offer choice of opportunity.
  • Held at local community provisions, Examples may be- Soft Play, Nature reserve, Forest schools.
  • Final group will be a Mad Hatters tea Party with Mr Bunny Hop! (Includes healthy snacks only.)

The Home-Start team is excited to be able to deliver this needed project!
