Shelley has worked within the statutory and voluntary sector supporting children and families for over 27 years, she has gained many qualifications in supporting families to include, Level 5 in Social Care, Level 4 in Play Support, Level 4 in volunteer management and Level 7 in Strategic Business management. Shelley has a track record of successfully devising and setting up innovative projects with a focus on meeting local needs and removing barriers to participation.
Working at Royal Association for the Deaf and having a profoundly deaf non oral son, Shelley campaigned for opportunities for Deaf volunteers creating an innovative project “ Sign Me Up”. She also proactively trained and qualified as an A1 assessor to support Deaf student with NVQ units by assessing and using British sign Language to support students. She also managed to change policy at RAD so all Deaf job applicants receive an interview to build interview skills.
Shelley was introduced to Home-Start in Germany British Forces, following manging a Home-Start BFG scheme she received the highest award a generals’ commendation.
In 2011 Shelley took over the management of Home-Start CJC and her passion for supporting families is evident, continually looking for funds to support the needs of vulnerable families and devising and creating innovative projects to support change. These include Fun-Start, Recipe4health, Time4YOU, Together, Shine Bright and many more all with the hope to create opportunities for local children and families to enable them to reach their full potential.
